Calvary Apostolic Church

Such an amazing church! Sincere Godly people! A church that prays, bible believing, full worship, and the sweet presence of God! Great place for people of all ages!

This place is what gives Christian’s a bad name. My family has had 5 generations of family go to this church. My parents when it was still just a basement church, my Great grandmother who died in 1973, my grandmother who died in 1993, all of her children grew up in that church. We buried the original pastor. My mother who died in 2021, her children and grandchildren, my aunts and cousins. One of those Aunts just passed away, who was disabled and on a fixed income. Who tithed religiously with her meager income for 40 years!! This church, its pastor and its congregation couldn’t even pass the donation plate in her honor to help with her burial expenses. Those who have a medical condition over a certain age aren’t easily insured. And although her family will raise the money. It sure would have been nice to witness these “Christian’s” Give back some of the money she and her family have donated the last 60 years! Truly pathetic. Shame on you.

This church is very inviting and everyone greets you with a smile! It’s not a stand up and then sit down kind of church. The musicians are very energetic, and they encourage participation from the congregation. The pastor (Rex Deckard) always has very impactful and relevant sermons. And he’s approachable! He’s not “to special” for the average joe! The youth program is great and very much alive! They have so many young people! AND they have Services in Spanish as well as English. I would definitely recommend this church!

One of the best places in Des Moines to learn about the way God wants us to live according to His Word. There is another place on the West side of Des Moines as well. New Life Church.
