I've a long history with this church, having attended mass starting in the 80's with my (born and raised Catholic) best friend who later became my husband; the two of us then becoming dedicated and longtime members of the Sunday Traditional choir; a choir whose members offered much support for me when I became a Catholic and joined the church in 1995. Currently, I don't celebrate mass here as often anymore, since much has changed and, with age, comes different perspectives. This Anchorage, Alaska downtown historical church, visited by the Pope, has lost the title of Cathedral, something that has been very disheartening for me personally. And having to adapt to fluctuating staff members; including Pastors and Dominican brothers, all too often can be difficult for some, even as lovely as most of these people are. There is a special place in my heart for this church. I have many beautiful memories here, that I will always cherish and hold dear.

I'm glad that I found this Catholic Church when I was here. They are a homey, welcoming, and friendly church I experience when I travel to the world 🌎 for work. Thank you for all of your contributions to the church. Thank you for Fr. Matthew, blessed my rosary. The moment you gave me a radiant smile and accommodated me in less than a second… you touch my soul. Thank you for your blessings. I pray for your journey. I pray that I have an opportunity to come back here again!

Holy Family is a wonderful Church and has a beautiful community. The priests and brother are wonderful men striving to make Anchorage holy and make this church your spiritual home. They have the most confession times in the whole state I believe and many mass times including the Dominican version of the Traditional Latin Mass. I am thankful for the priests and parishioners for making Holy Family so great.

Yesterday, we made the time to go to Mass, did a quick Google search and saw that holy family Cathedral was half a block away. Bonus points, it was only 5 o’clock and there was a 6 o’clock mass. We made our trek over to the Cathedral, looked around a little bit, then took our seat and enjoyed mass. The lady that did the first and second readings I had a great voice and annunciated each word. The priest prepared and delivered a lovely homily. We were happy to partake in the Eucharist, and enjoyed the fellowship at this lovely Cathedral. Afterwards, we stopped by to chitchat with the priest, and thank him for the wonderful service. I recommend if you are in town, whether Catholic or not, take the time to visit the church.

Visited from Texas and delighted to find these Dominican Friars serving at this beautiful church in downtown Anchorage. They had confession before mass, and a traditional mass at 9:30 Sunday. It was packed—keep it up!
