I joined St. John’s in 2003. It made a large difference in my life. I learned so much about how a real church should be. I worked in a number of ministries. Serving the least of these that Jesus said that anyone helping the least of these had also helped him. St. John’s is a church of love for all people. Although I moved out of Houston St. John’s helped me to be a better person and God sent me there to learn.

Friendly staff helps you get food and supplies for your home. You must sign up to be included online. The church is a great place to attend if you don't have a church home. Very welcoming. Upon my second visit to this church, which was the third Saturday. The third Saturday is the day they issue food and house hold supplies. Well, I'm not sure what happened, but the house hold supplies wasn't much of anything and the food issued was 2 heads of cabbage and some other form of cabbage leaves broken up inside s box with a few bell peppers, a pineapple. That's it, as for house hold supplies, we got a bag full of men's and ladies underwears, in which none of women's was my size. I don't have a husband anymore to warrant keeping the men's underwear. The other items were some random things that doesn't classify as house hold supplies. I seen house hold supplies to be Clorox bleach, dishwashing detergent like Dawn or Palmolive, laundry detergent like Tide, All, or some other brands,Pine Sol or Lysol cleaner, and Lysol wipes or sprays. These are cleaning supplies they used to issue but not anymore. What I have observed is that someone who volunteers there as I was there in this visit, walking out with 2 gallons of Pine Sol , the lemon scent and a gallon of Clorox bleach. Now, it seems that the REAL cleaning supplies they have are ONLY for the volunteers? How is that right? I mean assuming they didn't have enough to issue wouldn't they have something else to make up for it? They weren't like this before, so I don't know what happened except to think they take care of the volunteers first by keeping the actual house hold supplies for them while they issue random stuff that doesn't even come close to be called house hold supplies, basically stuff they didn't want and issued it out in the bags they stuff it in. They use to give out meat as well, what happened to that? I guess they kept it for the volunteers also. Now, don't get me wrong, the volunteers also deserve something, but why give the people who by the way are sitting in these VERY LONG lines from various times, some of these people here in lines before their appointment time to make sure they get in line before it tracks down to Emancipation Street, issue them random stuff that doesn't classify as house hold supplies? I don't consider men and women underwear, Christmas bags, and a random green clover table cover as house hold supplies. None of the women's underwear were my size. Wouldn't it have been better to have people come inside to pick those things out themselves? Anyway all that stuff I just ended up getting rid of it. I feel my time sitting in that line for hours was really wasted. They didn't do this before and like I said they had cleaning supplies there, we just didn't get any of it. For this I'm changing my review, from 5 Star to 2. I won't be visiting this church again unless they change the way they handle business. Sitting in very longs lines to receive junk isn't how I want to spend my Saturday morning if it doesn't benefit my family. As I've stated earlier, I saw a volunteer walk out with 2 gallons of Pine Sol lemon scent cleaner and a gallon of Clorox bleach. This church mis represent Jesus by their actions.

Had an amazing experience, the church staff are so welcoming and the pastor and choir are so passionate about worshipping and singing praises that I had never seen anything like it I am a member now and I'm looking forward to the next service. I definitely recommend this church.
