This is a very lovely and attractive church, entirely dedicated to Jesus and the Mother He so dearly loved. The people are warm and kind, though staff are not always easy to get on the phone. The parish is by no means wealthy: they are "poor in spirit" (Matthew 5:3-8). It is abundantly obvious that they give all glory to God through His Son Jesus, and desire to love the Virgin Mary in the way that Jesus does (Hebrews 13:8, Luke 2:51-52). If you really sit and ponder it, who can love and honor Mary more than Jesus? I've never seen a representation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel without her Beloved Son in her arms.

The first mass was celebrated in 1952. Refurbishments on the inside have made an already elegant church more inviting. The pastor is friendly and a good preacher. It has a strong base in the area. I have memories of many midnight masses with my high school friends. The neighborhood has seen changes and had some difficult years in the past but is on the upswing. Cristo Rey High School formerly Mount Carmel High School is on the same campus and Little Mount Carmel is still there. How time has passed.

It says dial 0 to leave a message but it hangs you up. Never answer phone even when they are supposed to be there. Tried to get someone to perform funeral for long time member. Never could get them.
