I absolutely love James River Church. This church truly saved my life and brought me into a closer relationship with God than I have ever experienced before. Through Life Groups, Freedom Groups, and going through the Grow Track, I found healing, purpose, and a place to belong. I now serve in live production and on the creative team, and every person I’ve worked with or met has been so welcoming, kind, and encouraging. I’ve also participated in many Saturday Serve events and have seen this church give back to the community in ways I’ve never witnessed at any church before. James River Church is a place where lives are genuinely changed, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.

1: Too loud. 2: Not obeying the commandment to meet and discuss the bible if all we do is listen to a preacher. 3: Sermon was educational but painful. No good for children. He was trying way too hard to make the same point for 20+minutes. 4: Music playing during a sermon is wrong. You've turned this into a circus for those of us who take it seriously. I hope someone overturns your tables. 5: Worship is not a commandment. If you love me obey my father, said the Lord. His father gave 10 commandments and I doubt more than 1% of the people here can recite them because they're all too busy waving hands back and forth for the concert every Sunday. They forget the Sabbath and work on it, trade on it, and think they can do that Sunday. The switch was institutionalized by a Pagan, so don't forget Saturday. 6: The seats are too skinny. This place was made to fill high capacity. They're selling sensationalism with a side of truth. 7: Less we forget, the bible has lessons and clues, many of them, and when 5.7.27 comes, most of these people will still be thinking that no man could know the day or the hour because they take that passage literally.

I've attended James River for about 18 years. The presence of God is palpable in the church services. God is clearly moving in people's lives. Every week people put their faith in Jesus, and people also get water baptized each week. We've seen countless healings, too. In fact, God healed me about a year ago after 17 years of shoulder pain. The leadership at James River loves people, and they want people to know how much God loves them. The volunteers are very genuine, and they give a lot of their time to serve and bless others. Some of my closest friends have come through the relationships I've built at the church. Of all the churches I've been a part of over the years, this is by far the most accurate display of a New Testament Pentecostal church. If you're looking for a Spirit-filled church that preaches the truth straight from the Bible, then James River is a great place to visit.

Vibrant church with wonderful worship and the best, verse by verse preaching (hard to beat and could stand up to big radio names, IMO); you will hear unabashed, straight-up Bible teaching and a clear gospel presentation. They have wonderful kids' and youth programs and several ways to plug in and get involved, especially for being such a big church. They aren't perfect (I attend 😅), but go and see for yourself what this church is about, you might find that you stay!

I’ve truly loved my time at James River. I have felt the presence of God in powerful ways here, and I’ve appreciated the worship, teaching, and the heart for revival and outreach. It has genuinely helped me grow spiritually. However, I do feel it’s important to lovingly mention something that has been concerning. I have personally overheard multiple instances of gossip within the congregation — even from people who were serving alongside me. This has happened more than once, including at DFL and as recently as this week. Gossip is clearly unbiblical, and at times it has felt like there is a bit of a high-school clique culture present. I say this not in anger but with sincerity and love, because I know the church deeply desires to honor God. I still enjoy James River and am grateful for what it has poured into my life, but this issue has made me prayerfully consider exploring other churches as well.
