Welcoming people and space, with lovely artwork inside. I am grateful for the connection with people and The Spirit.

I've visited MarsHill several times now. I have served in ministry at all different levels; children's ministries, music ministry, admin, pastor's wife, the whole gamut. I see so much potential at MarsHill. Pros * Diversity in leadership. * Gifted musicians and vocals, the music/singing portion of worship is powerful, powerful... * Lead Pastor is A phenomenal teacher bringing the Word in scriptual context and life application for today. He has been called to preach and teach. * There's so much I appreciate about the worship service. They do call and response, so there is some Litergical elements, but it is done in a way that is different than I have experienced. It's meaningful, personal and Christ centered. * They have communion every Sunday, and they way they do it is absolutely beautiful, they have created an atmosphere that is visually intimate, and calls us to remember, reflect, and be humbled by God's Love towards us. Cons *One of the pastors that alternate,is a decent teacher, but in my opinion for children, or teens. I have a hard time listening to him, because it's too basic, and the way he talks is better suited for young people. * MarsHill Has a unique sanctuary. The sanctuary is set up in a way that it's circular, so there Is seating all around the stage area? I like the idea of it actually. Heres the thing for me: the seating is probably for 2000 or more, but there's only about 250 people there. So you have people sprawled out all around the sanctuary. In some of the sections there may be twelve people or five or even two; this feels very impersonal, and separated. It would be different if there was even a 1000 people there. But there's not and so it just feels very individualistic not congregational or community. * I've been there a half dozen times and have made no connections. I'm friendly, and I approach people, but get little in return. * The last Sunday I attended, which was in June of 2024.They made an announcement that there would be no children's ministry because they didn't have enough volunteers to serve. In a church with 2 to 3 hundred people that spoke volumes to me. * Due to numbers and giving, they've also had to let some paid staff go. Honestly, at this point from Mars Hill.No I feel strongly that they have too much building and it's probably costing them an arm and a leg just for the utilities. With a number of people they have, which is a really great number for a church 2 to 300 people is a church that you can actually be a community and know each other, but they're too sprawled out. They're not connected to each other and I feel like they have so much potential though with their Pastor and the way they do the worship service. But I think that building is an issue and in its affecting the ministry at large. And honestly that location is not the best. They could sell that and find a much better location.

The only church I have ever felt comfortable in. My background in faith is a bit outside the norm - most easily described as "Christian adjacent" - and every time I have agreed to accompany a friend or loved one to their church services or functions, it has felt stuffy & oppressive. Not so at Mars Hill; their non-denominational services approach sermons from multiple angles and give an almost scholarly feel while maintaining the true Christian message of peace, love, and acceptance.
