The history of this beautiful house of worship alone was awe inspiring, but the actual house and grounds were so beautiful. As an African American, I felt a sense of pride and of reverence for the brothers and sisters who gave their lives so that I could have an opportunity to live in peace and equity in this country that promised it to all citizens. The fact that the site survives and thrives warms my heart. I purpose in my heart to return for an actual worship service.

I visited the center several years ago and remember sitting in the pews listening to one of Dr. King’s recorded sermons—it was incredibly moving. On this visit, I had the opportunity to attend a formal presentation that shared the history of the church, the five pastors who have led the congregation, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s connection to this sacred place. The park ranger who delivered the presentation was exceptionally knowledgeable and engaging. His passion for the history was clear, and we truly soaked in every detail he shared. The presentation added depth and context to a space that already carries so much meaning and significance. Overall, it was an excellent and enriching experience that I would highly recommend. Note: Presentations are offered at specific times, so plan ahead. We attended the first session at 11:00 a.m., and it was well worth it.

I had an opportunity to serve the “Ebenezer Everywhere” family as a Minstrel for their Mother’s Day celebration and, as always, it’s a distinct honor serving their house of worship. During this bout ministry support, I was especially privileged to experience the exceptional ministry of a legendary trailblazer for women in Ministry—Bishop Vashti McKinsey and also meet her in person! It was humbling to meet one of my personal heroes of the Black Church—one I had only read about and studied in books—while also serving the same hallowed ministry where Dr. Martin Luther King and his father once served, and where the current sitting U.S. Senator of Georgia also pastors. This was a powerful, intersecting moment for me and one I will never forget. 🙏🏾
